Brightcove.TV FAQ

In 2006, Brightcove launched a consumer video destination as a way to build the audience for content published with the Brightcove platform. In the summer of 2007, we decided to focus all our energy on our white-label, online video platform, so we stopped work on the consumer destination and moved the site to www.brightcove.tv. Through 2008, the Brightcove.TV website has served as a showcase of content that is published by Brightcove Network publishers and some of our premium platform publishers.

Now that we have discontinued the Brightcove Network, we believe that the Brightcove.TV site is no longer needed, so we are shutting it down.

The site was shut down on December 17, 2008.

In general, Brightcove publishers were not affected by the shut down of the Brightcove.TV website. All content in publishers' accounts continued to be there and all platform players continued to operate. If a publisher had been using players from the Brightcove.TV website to publish their video, they needed to switch to players published from their Brightcove platform account. If a publisher was doing batch ingestion, they needed to stop using the attribute called 'allow-brightcove-distribution'.

Consumers who uploaded content through the CGM functionality that publishers can deploy from their platform accounts now receive a different confirmation email. The new email simply informs the consumer that their video was successfully uploaded.

After December 17, 2008, videos uploaded directly to Brightcove.TV consumer accounts were no longer available. This did not affect consumer video uploaded to a platform account through Brightcove's consumer generated media features.

No. It is not be possible to download video from a Brightcove.TV consumer account.
