Brightcove's Consumer Media feature lets you harness your audiences passion and creativity like never before. By launching a Consumer Media campaign, you can turn your viewers into producers.
How do I begin accepting viewer submissions?
Similar to creating a Brightcove player, you can customize the submission process for viewer submissions in the Brightcove Console and then add it to your website by simply pasting a code snippet. The submission process handles viewer registration and video uploads. You can start creating a campaign in the "Consumer Media" section of the Console.
What control do I have over viewer submissions?
You can easily approve or reject each video submission to your campaign. Upon approval, the submission immediately becomes a title in your Brightcove account. You can also elect to automatically approve all submissions and have user uploads feed directly into your players.
For example, you can automatically tag viewer uploads and have them funneled into a tag-based lineup that showcases all of your submissions. You can also use our new Image Capture functionality to create video stills and thumbnails for submitted videos.
What file formats can be uploaded by consumers?
- .3GP
- .AVI
- .DV
- h.264

What is the maximum file size or video length that can be uploaded?
The maximum upload size is 100 MB, which for most of the formats above is 2-3 minutes in length. We recommend that you limit the length of the user submissions to 2 minutes.
