How Affiliates Request a Syndicated Player

Those who want to request a syndicated Player (prospective affiliates) can do so through the Brightcove Console . The Brightcove service hosts the request, so that the publisher offering the video Player for syndication can track incoming requests.

After a publisher creates a syndication offer and actively promotes it or offers it privately:

  1. The prospective affiliate begins the request process by either:

    • Clicking the Request This Player button from the syndication offer page. (View sample syndication offer)

    • Clicking a publisher-provided link to the player’s Syndication Request URL from a website or email. (A Syndication Request URL looks like:
      http://admin.brightcove.com/console/?offersignin=uytHI8Gq31yppYwkF50NyQ%3D%

  2. Sign in to Brightcove.
    If you haven’t registered for a Brightcove account yet:  You can do so from this page.


  3. Fill out requested information on the Player Syndication Request page. Affiliates can also preview the Player from this page, including all available video content and player controls.


    • Website: Enter the complete URL (including http:// or http://) for the intended website location. If needed, click Add Websites to include additional sites.
    • Notes: Enter any descriptive notes about your request, such as the website’s purpose, how the video will be integrated, etc.
  4. Upon clicking Complete Request, the request is immediately routed to the publisher’s notification email address for that Player (specified during publisher syndication offer creation).


    5. If publisher DOES NOT require approval for this Player: If publisher DOES require approval for this Player:
    The affiliate will automatically receive an email containing the player publishing code. Upon approval, the affiliate will receive an email containing the player publishing code.


After an affiliate receives the Brightcove player publishing code

You simply copy and paste the code into the appropriate location, whether a web page or Flash application.


Notes:

  • Anyone can create a Brightcove affiliate account. Publishers who already have a user account can use the same account as an affiliate. The only requirement is that each prospective affiliate must agree to the Brightcove Affiliate Services Agreement.
  • Affiliates cannot change the website URL(s) associated with their syndication request after they have submitted it. However, you can make multiple requests for the same Player.
  • Affiliates can track their outgoing affiliation requests: Choose the Syndication tab, then select the Outgoing Requests tab.
