Creating a Brightcove Player

To create a Brightcove Player:

Promotion - Enter a name, description, and promotion settings for your Player. (More detail on Promotion options)

Advertising (Available for certain types of Brightcove accounts.)
[Optional] Enter your Advertising policy preferences for this Player. By default, Advertising is not enabled.

Template - Click the Template tab to choose a Player template based on its size, number of videos or lineups you want to publish, whether the template supports pay media, etc. (Compare template features, Overview of Player templates)

Styles - [Optional] Click Styles to modify your Player’s appearance, including style options for a theme, color set, fonts, and background. (Configuring Player Style – Look & Feel)

To choose a video for a single title Player: Move your cursor over the content list to view and then click the Add/Edit the Featured Video tool tip. Select your Title choice from the Video Picker and click Select.

To choose your lineup(s): Move your cursor over the content list to view the Add/Edit Lineups tool tip (for a multiple lineup Player) or Add/Edit the Lineup tool tip (for a single lineup Player). Click to go to the Lineup Picker, make your Lineup choice(s), then click the Add or Save button.

[Optional] To choose other elements: If applicable for your Player template, move your cursor over editable options and click to add a logo or other element.

Branding - [Optional] If applicable for your Player template: Move your cursor over editable options and click to add your company/organization’s logo. You may also be able to enter a text branding element. If you have chosen the Pay Media Player template: The branding you add here will be visible to consumers as they progress through the screens to purchase and download your pay media title(s).

Preview - Click the Preview Video Player button on the right to view your Player contents. You cannot preview (WMV-encoded) video Titles intended for purchase or rental. To change any Player feature as a result of your preview: Select the Player, click the Edit button, make your changes, save the Player and preview again until you are satisfied.

Security - Identify the location, playback settings, and background colors for the page where your Player will display. (More detail on Security options)

Settings - Identify the location, playback settings, and background colors for the page where your Player will display. You can also set a player-level bumper and control bumper playback behavior on the Settings tab.(More detail on Settings options)

Click Save.
The player Publishing Codes tabs of links and code display. (To view these codes anytime after saving your player: Choose the Players tab, select the player name on the left, and click the Get Publishing Code button in the lower right.)

For Players hosted in a Brightcove-provided web page	You can easily copy and paste the URLs from the Hosted Player tab to insert the Player in a location of your choice: Direct URL Copy and paste this URL to link to the Player from any website or email. IFRAME Code Copy and paste this link to embed the Player in a website location of your choosing. Pop-up Code Copy and paste this link to launch the Player in a pop-up window.
For Players that you would like to insert in another location	Copy the publishing code for the Player so you can paste it in the location of your choosing: To insert the Player in a web page or pop-up window To insert the Player into a Flash application

Notes & Tips

To edit your Player anytime: Choose the Players tab, select a video player, and click Edit. Choose from the tabs on the left, make your changes, and save them.
After you create a player, you can easily create additional Players by copying the existing one: Choose the Players tab, select the player you want to copy, and click the Duplicate button. The new player will open for you to make your edits. If you plan to name the second player similarly: Add the distinguishing part of the name in the beginning for easier viewing and selection in the player list of the Brightcove Console. For example, name a copy of the “FunhouseVideos” player “More FunhouseVideos”.
To navigate among pages in the Players area: Either choose a tab on the left (Promotion, Template, etc.) or click the Next or Previous buttons, if available. Do NOT use your browser Back/Forward options, as these may cause you to exit the Console. If you do click Back accidentally, simply click your browser Forward button to return to the Console (without having to sign in again).
When you first choose the Players tab: You will see text that orients you to working in the Players section of the Console. To access the work area itself, click "Continue to Section." To skip this information from now on, clear the "Always show this message" checkbox in the lower left. To view this information again later, click "Help" in the upper right.
