Video Encoding Software

Your choice of video encoding tools depends on whether your source video needs to be encoded to Flash Video (for Flash preview or Flash full-length video) or Windows Media Video (for WMV full-length video, which is required for the main video in a Pay Media Title) for use in a Brightcove Player.

Sample encoding software for Flash Video

Your choice of the following software may be influenced by whether you will be encoding to Flash version 7 or 8.

To ensure high quality: Use an encoding application which supports two-pass variable bit-rate (VBR) encoding. Two-Pass VBR encoding significantly improves the quality of video compared to Constant Bit Rate encoding at a given data rate.
