Introduction to Brightcove Titles & Lineups
Titles
In the Brightcove service, a Title must include:
- Your main, full-length video: Either encoded to Flash Video (FLV) format (for promotional or other non-retail video) or encoded to Windows Media Video (WMV) format (for video intended for purchase or rental, known as "pay media").
- Descriptive text: At a minimum, the name, a short description, and the genre (a category, such as "Business News") of the main video. At your option, you can also add tags and other metadata to help viewers browse or locate titles.
In addition, a Title can include supporting media to enhance your viewers’ experience:
- Images: Thumbnail or video still image. Thumbnail images can be used for navigation in a player that contains a large number of titles.
- Logo Overlay: Presents your logo or image of choice to viewers within the video playback window. Logo Overlays can also link to your URL or choice, making them a great addition for virally syndicated titles.
- Preview video: A supporting Flash preview video is recommended for all pay media titles and for any full-length video of 15 minutes or more.
- Bumper video: A supporting Flash bumper video is used to introduce or brand your main full-length video.
You can create Titles using the Brightcove Console to both upload your video and image assets and enter the descriptive metadata. Titles can then be added to Lineups or added directly to single title Players.
Lineups
In the Brightcove service, a Lineup is an ordered list of Titles created for viewer playback in a player. You can think of a Lineup as a playlist that you create for your audience.
- You can create Lineups using the Brightcove Console.
- You can manually add/remove Titles in a Lineup or you can set Lineups to be populated with Titles automatically using tags.
- Some Player templates can support multiple Lineups inside an individual Player.
- A Lineup can contain a mix of sellable ( "pay media" ) and non-sellable Titles.
