Modifying Your Flash Player Security Settings

If you see a warning like the one below: You need to modify the security settings of your Flash Player plug-in to allow the Brightcove Player to connect to the Internet from your local hard drive.

To adjust your Flash Player security settings:

  1. Click the Settings button in the message to view the Flash Settings Manager web page.

If you are using Firefox or a recent version of Internet Explorer: These browsers may block the Flash Settings web page. If so, you can go to the Flash Settings Manager Panel directly.
  2. In the Settings Manager Panel, select the Global Security Settings tab, if it is not already selected.

  3. Choose Edit locations and select the folder from which you will preview your Brightcove Player.
For example: You might have saved the HTML document containing the Brightcove player publishing code to your Desktop.

  4. Close the Settings Manager.

  5. Close your browser, then reopen it (for the change to take effect) to preview the page containing the Brightcove Player locally (i.e., from your computer).
