Brightcove Player Report Types

Reporting data is delayed by up to 48 hours

You can access the following reports for active Players from the Reports tab in the Brightcove Console.

In the Reports tab, there are two drop down selectors. You can choose to view your publisher or Affiliate account reports. If you choose to view Publisher Reports, you must choose which category of reports you would like to view: Performance or Syndication. The description of each available report is listed below, under its corresponding category.

Title Plays
A "play" is recorded for each viewer Play button click or autoplay (if enabled). Each video played counts as 1 play, regardless of whether the viewer paused and resumed play.


Generates reports about titles, lineups, and players for which you are the content publisher. Below is the data shown in the console view, for additional information and the complete report use the "Download Report" button to export as CSV.

Summary
Applies to all titles and players.
Your Total Title Plays
Totals for: # of players, # of player loads, # of title plays, MB downloaded (Video), MB Downloaded (non-Video), Minutes downloaded.
Averages for: title plays per player load, MB per player load, MB per title play, Avg. Minutes Delivered per player load, Avg. minutes delivered per title play
Title Performance
Applies to all titles.
Top 10 based on plays: title name, # of plays, MB downloaded, minutes downloaded.
Summary: totals for all titles and the average for each.
Player Performance
Applies to all players.
Top 10 based on # of player loads: player name, # of player loads, # of title plays, MB downloaded, minutes downloaded.
Summary: totals for all players and the average for each.
Referrer Traffic
Applies to all or selected players.
Top 10 based on referrer: Top referring URL, # of visits and % of total visits
Summary: totals unique referring URLs, total visits, avg. visits per referring URL.

Depending how and where the player was inserted (like in a pop-up hosted on a different domain than the referring page), a "Referring URL" may be reported as unavailable.
MB Downloaded By Hour
Applies to all titles.
Shows MB downloaded (video only) per hour of the selected day in chart format
# of MB Downloaded
Applies to all or selected titles.
Shows MB downloaded (video only) per day of the selected month in chart format
% of Plays completed
Applies to all or selected titles.
Shows % of title plays completed of the selected month in chart format.

A completion event occurs when the playhead reaches the end of the video. This is recorded as 100% completed play. The % of plays completed metric is measured as the number of completion events divided by the number of plays for the same time period. So it is an average of completions over time.

Notes:

  • Based on the way your Brightcove account is set up, report data is presented in different ways.
    • For progressive download accounts: Reports display media transferred as megabytes.
    • For streaming media accounts: Reports display data transferred in minutes.
  • Reports for minutes streamed and reports for megabytes downloaded or streamed include data from the activity of previewing players from the Brightcove Console. This is not true of reports about playing (such as Number of Plays) or the Title Play Completion Rate report.
  • Reporting data is tracked in PST (Pacific Standard Time). Even when daylight savings time comes into effect, the data is still tracked and displayed in PST (not PDT).
