Reviewing, Approving, or Denying Syndication Requests


Before you can review affiliate requests :


To review, approve, or deny incoming affiliate requests:

  1. Choose the Syndication tab in the Brightcove Console.
  2. Choose the Incoming Requests tab.
  3. [Optional] Refine your view of incoming requests:
    • View By: Select an option in the View By pull-down menu to view all requests, open requests, approved requests, denied requests, and deleted requests from your account. For example: In combination with the Filter By field, you might want to view only the approved offers of a particular affiliate.
    • Filter By: Type in a series of characters to view matching affiliate names or offer names. For example: To limit your view to all incoming requests from an affiliate named Enrico Enterprises, type e, n, r, continuing until the matches come into view.
  4. Select an incoming request to view its details on the right.
  5. [Optional] Contact the affiliate if you need clarification or further information to help you decide.
    For example: You may want to know about the demographics of visitors to their website, whether the affiliate plans to include competitive content, etc.
  6. Approve or deny the syndication request.


  7. If you click this button … Then …
    Approve Request

    A green checkmark appears in the Status column of the Incoming Requests list on the left. The affiliate is then free to incorporate the Player in their website or other application using the publishing code you provided in your syndication offer.

    To revoke this affiliate’s ability to use your video Player after they have embedded it in their site:
    Click the Deny Affiliate button. Applies only if you have enabled the affiliate to embed your Player using JavaScript or ActionScript.
    Deny Request A red X appears in the Status column of the Incoming Requests list on the left.

    If you later reconsider:
    Select this request and click the Approve Request button. Remember that you can always view deleted requests using the View By dropdown menu. (Deleted requests are maintained by the Brightcove Console.)

Notes:

  • When reviewing the affiliate’s proposed domains for placing your Player:
    Consider that a domain (e.g., http/www.brightcove.com) or a directory (e.g., http/www.brightcove.com/videos) lets the Player display in any or all subdirectories of these locations. A specific page URL (e.g., http://admin.brightcove.com/console/signin.html) limits the Player’s display to only that page.
  • To view the syndication status of your players from the Players tab:
    Mouse over icons in the Type column on the left to view whether a player is: Available for Syndication, an Affiliated Player, or Not Available for Syndication.
  • To resize column widths in the display of incoming requests: Drag the boundary on the right side of the column heading until the column is the width that you want.
  • To resize table width in the display of incoming requests: Move your mouse over the small set of 3 vertical lines between the tables and drag in either direction.
  • When you first choose the Syndication tab: You will see text that orients you to working in the Syndication section of the Console. To access the work area itself, click "Continue to Section." To skip this information from now on, clear the "Always show this message" checkbox in the lower left. To view this information again later, click "Help" in the upper right.
