Summary of Brightcove User Roles & Permissions

Administrators Assign User Roles

Each organization that uses the Brightcove service needs to have someone with the role of primary Administrator. Administrators assign the user roles of Administrator, Financial, Production, and Programmer when they create Brightcove user accounts within their organization. You can assign the Administrator role to multiple users, as needed.

Upon registration, your Brightcove user account is automatically assigned an Administrator role unless you have been pre-assigned another user role (Financial, Production, or Programmer) by an administrator for your organization.
To check whether you have an Administrator role: Click My Account in the upper right, re-enter your password, and then choose User Accounts. Only administrators can access the User Accounts page.

Permissions Vary by Role

Each user role has a set of predetermined permission levels—Edit, View Only, or No Access—for different areas or tasks within the Brightcove Console. For example: While an administrator has edit permission in almost all areas, someone working in Production typically does not need to manage other user accounts.

User roles permissions for tasks or areas cannot be changed from their defaults.
