Uploading Assets in the Brightcove Console
To create and program videos with Brightcove, you need to upload the assets for your video Titles.
We have a new, faster and easier way for you to encode and upload content into Brightcove. It's a free desktop application called the Publishpod. If you have a small batch of files you need to upload, files that are larger the 100mb, or you need to encode your files into Flash format first, you should consider using the Brightcove Publishpod.
Before uploading, ensure that:
- Your content is in the correct format and location.
- Your files are less then 100mb. If they are larger, you should use the Brightcove Publishpod.
To upload video and image assets:
- Select the Assets tab in the Brightcove Console.
- Click the Open File Upload button in the lower left.
- In the File Type drop-down, select the kind of asset you want to upload, such as a Flash full-length video. (View asset category descriptions)
- Click Browse to locate the file on your hard drive, then click Open.
- Click the Upload button.
- Repeat steps 3-5 for each additional file you want to upload in this session, then click Close File Upload.
Notes
- Uploading the same file twice: By design, the Brightcove Console lets you upload the same file more than once, without overwriting the previous version. Each new upload is assigned a unique File ID.
- When you first choose the Assets tab: You will see text that orients you to working in the Assets section of the Console. To access the work area itself, click "Continue to Section". To skip this information from now on, clear the "Always show this message" checkbox in the lower left. To view this information again later, click "Help" in the upper right.
- You can also upload files as you create or edit a title using the Brightcove Console. However, to avoid prolonging the title creation process, consider uploading larger video assets to your Brightcove account before you create your titles.
